Participants in this workshop will learn the basics of photovoltaic systems. Participants in this workshop will learn how to perform a PV site assessment for a home or business. Class content will cover how to: use site assessment tools, size a PV system, recommend a PV system type to meet a home or business owner's goals, identify and recommend steps for energy efficiency, perform a load analysis, identify and recommend array placement options, quantify a solar resources, provide a general cost estimate, write a PV site assessment, use web based performance calculators, provide installer and equipment vendor information.
To become a MREA Certified PV Site Assessor, students will need to complete this course, 2 practice site assessments, pass a written test and pay a $300 certification fee. For more information phone 715-592-6595 and ask for Zara.

SW 201.04 Solar Water Site Assessor Training
This class will lead participants through the background information required to perform a solar water heating assessment for the Focus on Energy program and for the homeowner to assess their own site. Participants of this workshop will learn how to assess a home for its potential for a solar domestic hot water system. Students will learn how to define a site's solar window, interpret solar radiation and temperature data, size a system, identify system components, determine the best location for collectors, and determine structural integrity for an installation.

W 101.05 Introduction to Wind Systems
This one-day course is a prequel to MREA wind systems workshops and for people who have an interest in residential size wind systems for their home or business. This course will inform students as to what wind energy is, how it works and what it can do for you. Students in this course will learn the basics of wind energy. Topics will include: wind resources, basic system components, system types, turbine types, applications, and tower types.
This course is a prerequisite for all other MREA wind courses.
